Gambia: KGI FC in Second Division

KGI FC of Bakau on Monday defeated Starlight of Banjul 1-0 and gained promotion to the GFA second division league in a match played at the Father Gough Sports Complex in Manjai Kunda.

KGI FC have now joined Bombada of Brikama in the GFA second division League after finishing top and second positions respectively in the triangular qualifiers, with 9 points each in four games.

West Coast Region outfit Gunjur United thrashed Roots of Banjul 3-0 in the other third division triangular qualifiers game played at the Brikama Mini Stadium on the same day.

The victory was not enough to see Gunjur United regain promotion to the second tier following their relegation to the third division last season after their dismal performance during the season.

Bombada and KGI FC finished top and second positions in the GFA third division triangular qualifiers with 9 points each in four games, Gunjur United took 3rd position with 7 points in four games two points behind Bombada and KGI FC.

Roots are 4th position with 3 points in four outings, while Starlight are rooted at the bottom of the GFA third division triangular qualifiers with a single point in four outings.
