Gambia: Tribunal Re-Assigns Pro-Pag Case

The chairman of the Industrial Tribunal in Kanifing, Magistrate Jobarteh, yesterday re-assigned the lawsuit brought against Pro-Pag Advocacy Group

The defendant, Pro-Pag, was being slammed with a lawsuit by their former executive director, John Charles Njie.

When the case was called, the tribunal chairman, Magistrate Jobarteh, told the tribunal he was going to recuse himself from presiding over the case.

He adduced that whenever the case comes up, the Principal Magistrate shall sit and preside over the case with other panelists.

The case was then adjourned till 11 March 2013.

The plaintiff's claim against the defendant was for a declaration that the termination of his employment by the defendant was unlawful.

Mr Njie further claimed D372, 015 being damages for the unlawful termination.

The claim also indicated D500, 000 being damages for breach of contract. The sum of D104, 025 had also been claimed by the plaintiff, being three months' leave arrears for the year 2008 and 2010.

He further claimed D124, 005 being salary arrears for the months of June, July and August 2011, as well as percentage and cost.
