Western Sahara: Over 440 Runners At 13th Sahara Marathon

Smara — Over 440 Sahrawi and foreign runners took part in the 13th Marathon of Western Sahara "Sahara Marathon," which kicked off Tuesday in the Sahrawi refugee camp of Smara.

The sporting event kicked off in presence of member of the National Secretariat Polisario Front, Mohamed Lamine Ahmed, Sahrawi Minister of Youth and Sports Mohamed Maulod Mohamed Fadel and large crowd.

The marathon is to be held in four stages, the first covering 42 kilometers between the camps of Al Ayun and Smara, the second of 21 kilometers between the camps of Ousserd and Smara, while the third and fourth will cover respectively 10 and 5 kilometers around the camp of Smara.

It marked by the participation of 342 athletes of the SADR, 97 Algerians, French, Spanish and a Finnish.
