Goods worth more than Sh800,000 were destroyed after a fire razed a church in Migori town. The fire started after members of the Deliverance Church had finished their evening prayer meeting.
"The fire started around 7pm yesterday in the evening and spread quickly across the church, burning down everything," said pastor Charles Otigo. He said nothing was salvaged. The pastor said he suspected foul play, but could not point a finger at anybody.
Otigo said the speed with which the fire spread raised eyebrows and called on the police to conduct a thorough investigation. He said it was just luck that the fire did not burn adjacent residential houses and piles of timber. Kenya Power officers came to the scene to collect evidence.
