Kenya: Malezi Stop Sunshine to Win Lang'ata District Title

MALEZI School were crowned Lang'ata District basketball champions after beating Sunshine 52-26 in the finals at the Amref ground over the weekend.

The game was electric from the onset with both teams going head to head for the title and the opportunity to represent their district at the County level. Sunshine Academy raced away 4-0 against the favourites Malezi High School.

However, their lead didn't last for long as Lalezi changed tact with the introduction of Churchill Otieno. With the threat contained, Malezi team took back the momentum and erupted to take the lead. Going on a 13-point run, the Malezi boys ended the half 24-11, with rejuvenated confidence and focus. In the second half the Malezi stole the show, with John Madol taking charge. The team rallied behind their new found leader, overcoming the loss of injured captain Zack Okong'o, and finished the game in style.
