Eritrea: Ministry Implements Welfare Programs in Gash-Barka Region

Barentu — The Ministry of Labor and Human Welfare's branch in Gash-Barka region indicated that it has implements various welfare programs at more than 52 million Nakfa.

Accordingly, over 42.4 million Nakfa has been paid to families of martyrs in line with the government's benefit scheme and the support extended by nationals residing abroad. Furthermore, a number of disabled citizens have been rehabilitated on the basis of credits targeting small-scale business ventures, the impact of which strategy has become visibly positive.

Meanwhile, the role of community rehabilitation workers in the region has become significant regarding promoting the production capacity of the Disabled. Training courses were also organized for disabled nationals, orphans and street children with a view to equipping them with skills through which they can support themselves.
