Rwanda: Africa Junior Champs Set for March 2

THE Africa Men's Junior Championship will start on March 2 in Sidi Bou Said, not today as earlier confirmed by the Rwanda Volleyball Federation.

The Technical director Christian Hatumimana, who is also in Tunisia with Rwanda team, told Times Sport yesterday, "The tournament will start on March 2, not February 28 as earlier reported."

"We have a technical meeting tomorrow [today]."

Meanwhile, the national U-21 team beat Tunisian league side Hammem Linf ahead of the start of the Africa Men's U-21 Championship in Tunisia.

The junior team floored Hammem Linf 3-0 [25-15, 25-22, 25-22] in one of the warm-up matches that were scheduled to be played before the start of the competition.

Coach Paul Bitok targets to finish among the top four seeking to qualify for the World Cup for the first time.

"We are preparing well and after seeing the way they have played in their first warm up match, I am sure the players will do well in the tournament," added Bitok.

So far, countries that have confirmed participation at the African tournament include Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Congo Brazzaville, Libya, Egypt, Rwanda, Algeria and hosts Tunisia.

One more country which is yet to be confirmed is expected any time in Tunisia prior to the start of the competition.
