Bong County electoral district #2 Representative Prince Karmue Moye has disclosed that rehabilitation work on the Botota-Gbarnga road will commence shortly in the county. He said a concession company Atlantic Resources, has agreed to fund 60 percent of the project, while the government will provide the balance.
Atlantic Resources is a concession company that operates in the forest sector here. Representative Moye said the road, which is very deplorable, will be rehabilitated as soon as final works are done to get approval from the Public Procurement and Concession Commission (PPCC), adding that frantic efforts are being exerted through the office of Superintendent Mappy Polson.
Commenting on the implementation of projects earmarked for the 2012/2013 fiscal year, Moye, who is Co-chairperson on Ways, Means, Finance and Budget, narrated that assessment is being carried out by those agencies responsible to determine when to kickoff.
He said his commitment to improving the standard of life of his people has led him to pressurize the relevant ministries and agencies in making sure the projects are implemented. Hon. Moye made the assertion over the weekend when Team Work Africa, a faith based organization, dedicated two hand pumps in Gborwoe, Jorquelleh District. He vowed to fulfill his campaign promises to the citizens before the end of his six-year term at the Legislature.
"We politicians are viewed in Liberia as liars; we need to do everything possible to get this public perception away and the only way we can do this is to ensure we live up to the promises we made to the people whenever we are seeking political positions in this country", the Bong lawmaker noted.
Moye, who took more than twelve projects to his district under the 2012/2013 national budget, has been criticized by some of his colleagues in the House, terming his action as being greedy.
Other Bong lawmakers some of whom received only one project for their respective districts said Moye was seeking his personal interest on the Ways, Means, Finance and Budget Committee than others districts in Bong.
Bong County District #5 Representative Edward Karfiah, who accompanied the Liberia Telecommunication Authority (LTA) to southeast Liberia, while serious debate on the last national budget was ongoing at the Capital, blamed Moye for receiving one project under the budget which is the elevation of the David Feijue Elementary and Junior High School to secondary level under the Ministry of Education.
