Members of the Constitution Review Committee or CRC recently (February 21, 2013) held a strategic plenary session to deliberate on the enormous responsibilities given them to review the nation's constitution.
The CRC release issued in Monrovia Thursday said during the session, several key measures aimed at reaching all segments of the Liberian society and successful implementations of their mandate were discussed.
According to the release, the plenary session presided over by Cllr. Gloria Musu Scott, Chairperson of the CRC, put in place six sub-committees with various oversight responsibilities.
"The purpose for the unanimous decision is to strengthen he CRC delivery capacities to assure the implementation of its mandate," the release said.
The sub-committees and their heads include Sub-committee on Administration, Cllr. Gloria Musu Scott; Sub-committee on Technical Services, Documentation and Drafting, Dr. Elwood Dunn; and Sub-committee on Political Parties and Civil Society Organizations, Soko V. Sackor.
Others are Sub-committee on Media Relations and Civic Education, the Rev. Dr. Jasper S. Ndaborlor; Sub-committee on International Partners and Donors, Amelia Ward and Sub-committee on Interest and Professional groups, the Rev Kennedy Sandy.
The release quoted the CRC Chairperson Cllr. Scott as saying the sub-committees are established in the wake of the enormous tasks the CRC has to accomplish, expressing confidence in the capabilities, potentials, experiences and skills of the committee heads to do justice to the various oversight responsibilities.
In another development, the CRC has made two major appointments to enhance its functional capacities. Those appointed are Losine Sayon, Office Manager and D. Wa Hne, Jr., Public and Media Relations Officer. The release said the committee has expressed faith in the competence and performance of the two staff members.
