In an interview published on February 26th in the Spanish newspaper "Cincodias," Moroccan Minister of Economy and Finance Nizar Baraka highlighted the many investment opportunities for Spanish companies in Morocco, adding that greater bilateral trade and investment can help Spain in getting out of its financial crisis. Morocco has an open economic policy and "offers stability and high potential for growth" he said. Morocco is "strongly integrated" with the European Union as more than 60 percent of its trade is with European countries such as France and Spain. The Minister added that Spain is now the #2 investor in Morocco after France.
