Namibia: Missing Girl Found Dead

AN 11-year-old girl, Cathleen Afrikaner, who was reported missing from her home in Windhoek on Sunday, has been found dead.

The Namibian Police earlier requested the assistance of the public in tracing the girl. She was last seen in the company of an unknown man walking towards the Gammams water treatment plant in the Goreangab Dam area of Katutura.

According to Inspector Kauna Shikwambi, a friend of the missing girl who was with her said the man had tried to rape them but she managed to flee.

"Unconfirmed information has it that Cathleen fell into the water and based on that information the police divers were dispatched to the scene in pursuit of the body since Sunday," Shikwambi said.

The police issued a statement yesterday afternoon confirming that Afrikaner's body had been found at Goreangab Dam.
