Egypt: Prime Minister Visits Iraq Early On March

Prime Minister Hisham Qandil will lead a high-level delegation on an official visit to Iraq on March 4-5, Egypt's Ambassador to Iraq Sherif Shahin said on Wednesday 27/2/2013.

The delegation accompanying Qandil will include members of the Economic Ministerial Group and leading businessmen, he said. Talks between the two sides will focus on bolstering relations and broadening the scope and scale of economic, trade and investment cooperation, he said.

The PM will begin his Baghdad visit by a meeting with his Iraqi counterpart Nouri al-Maliki for talks on economic ties and Egypt's contribution to Iraq's national reconstruction projects, he noted.

Shahin expects an announcement on the establishment of an Egyptian-Iraqi business council to be made during the visit, which he regards as an important step towards re-energizing strategic relations between the two countries.
