Western Sahara: Intifada of Independence, a Great Leap Forward in Sahrawi National Struggle

The Intifada of independence is a "great leap forward in the Sahrawi national struggle," said Wednesday in Smara President of the Republic , Secretary General of the Polisario Front Mohamed Abdelaziz.

In his speech on the occasion of the celebration of 37th anniversary of the proclamation of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), the Sahrawi president underlined that "the intifada of independence has strengthened the unity of Sahrawi people, opened prospects for diversification of the methods of struggling, and established the national Sahrawi truth."

The Intifada of independence witnessed many "resounding" stages, including the experience of the human rights activist Aminatou Haider and Gdeim Izik epic, he added.

President Abdelaziz said that the symbolic festivities of 2013 highlighting the Sahrawi State's sovereignty over the whole national territory is an important stage in the celebration by the Sahrawi people of the 40th anniversary of the creation of the People's Liberation Front of Seguia al Hamra and Rio de Oro (Polisario Front) and the outbreak of the armed struggle.
