Somalia: Cattle Exports Resume From Mogadishu

Cattle have been exported from Mogadishu for the first time in over 20 years with five hundred and fifty head being exported to Oman. The occasion was attended by government ministers and traders. Mr Abdulkadir Sheikh Ismael, Deputy Minister for Commerce and Industry, said the shipment was possible because of the close links between the government and traders.

A pre-export livestock facility was established last year. The manager of Mogadishu Port, Abdullahi Ali Nor, said the export of livestock from Mogadishu showed the progress being made in business, and stressing that the port was open for the export of cattle, camels and sheep.
