Kenya: Galana River to Boost Agriculture, Says Kingi

Kilifi governor hopeful Amason Kingi has said if elected, he will make sure Galana River be used to boost agriculture in the county.

He said the river will be used for irrigation to raise the agricultural potential of the area. Kingi yesterday said if the river is properly used, the county will be sufficient in food production and even have surplus

"If elected, I will ensure dams are dug along the river to curb floods," said Kingi. "This area does not receive a lot of rain, but if we build dams to irrigate the land, we are going to self sufficient in food production."

"Floods in the area have led to lose of property and people. We do not want to experience this again. We are going to put dams along the river for water harvesting," he said.
