Uganda: Museveni Meets Ministers to Review Performance

President Yoweri Museveni will this evening meet ministers at a retreat in Kampala, to review the performance of their ministries over the last six months.

Museveni will be formally briefed on the performance of each Government sector, covering half the period of the financial year 2012/2013.

The performance review comes slightly over three months to the next reading of the 2013/2014 budget which will outline priorities for the country's development.

The state minister for general duties in the Office of the Prime Minister, Prof Tarsis Kabwegyere, told the New Vision that the review was intended to improve service delivery.

"As we enter into the second half of the financial year, we would like to know how we have performed and potential areas for improvement. We are examining every sector on a scale, after which we will get a clear picture of how we are performing," Kabwegyere said.

Permanent secretaries, chairpersons of local governments and resident district commissioners are attending the retreat at the new Government office building.
