Liberia: PYJ Wants Forh Suspended

The political leader of the opposition National Union for Democratic Progress (NUDP) Senator Prince Y. Johnson has called on members of the House of Representatives to indefinitely suspend Montserrado County District # 16 Representative, Edward Forh and at the same time asking President Sirleaf to dismiss suspended Monrovia Acting City Mayor, Mary Broh.Rep. Forh is quoted on an audio recording soliciting for an inducement from the Montserrado Suspended Supt. Grace T. Kpaan.

The lawmaker has since accepted the recording to be his voice and described the act as a "stupid joke" but promised to address the issue upon his return from the USA this month.

Suspended Acting Mayor Broh desecrated the function of the first branch of government when she singlehandedly took away Supt. Kpaan from the Monrovia Central Prison after she was punished by plenary to stay in jail for 72 hours.

Senator Johnson, a former presidential candidate who took third place in the 2011 General and Presidential Elections, said Broh should do the honorable thing to resign or be dismissed to save the image of President Ellen Johnson who is expected to leave a legacy in the country upon the end of her regime.

As for Rep. Forh, the Nimba County Senator said it would be prudent that the lawmaker steps down for the good of his people and the district or the plenary of the House should suspend him for time indefinite.

Speaking on ELBC Radio during the weekend, Sen. Johnson described the action of the government officials as an act that is incompatible with the norms of good governance which has the propensity to destroy the achievements of President Sirleaf.

Sen. Johnson said Supt. Kpaan respected the mandate of the House by appearing before plenary Acting while Mayor Broh decided to disrespect the Liberian people because of her proximity to the President.

"The President that I know should do the right thing to dismiss Broh for disrespecting the first branch of government and if the President delays, I ask Mayor Broh to do the honorable thing by turning in her letter of resignation. At the same time, I call on the House to suspend Rep. Forh for soliciting bribe from Suspended Supt. Kpaan," PYJ sternly intimated.

    Really!

Can the members of the either houses suspend a fellow member in Liberia?

I believe a member of the House of Representative or the Senate can be disciplined for disorderly conduct or ethics violation through suspension. However, I believe a member cannot be dismissed unless through his/her constituents. What is going on in Liberia is appalling and doesn’t speak well of Ellen Johnson’s administration. The rule of law has to be respected by everyone. The problem is that people still have the wartime mentality.

PYJ wants what? A gun shot was his method of solving anything. His head now is so far up Ellen's arse he'll tell you what she had for dinner last night!
