Seven people have been killed following inter-clan fighting in North Eastern.Thousands from the Garreh clan have fled their homes and are camping at Mandera North DC's office.

Most said their hopes of voting in today's election have been torpedoed by the violence.The North Eastern provincial security committee convened a meeting over the violence.

However, as the meeting was going on four more people were killed and 40 others injured in fresh attacks between the Garreh and Degodia communities.

The dead were part of a group that tried to attack the Garrehs but were intercepted by security agents.
