Kenya: Flower Staff Miss the Vote

More than 800 employees of a flower farm in Subukia constituency on Monday protested the management's decision to stop them form voting. The workers of Subati flower farm in Subukia were ordered to report to work in the morning and told they would only be given permission to go cast the ballot after 2pm.

One of the employees said the management had sent out a circular on Saturday instructing all staff to report on Monday morning failure to which they would face disciplinary action. Meanwhile, more than 100 employees of a security firm in Nakuru were also denied permission to vote and had spent the day at the work stations. Cobra Security Agency workers most of whom were assigned to banks, shops and restaurants were told they would not be allowed to leave until their shift is over.
