Egypt: Ahmed Ezz Fined L.e. 3 Billion

A Giza criminal court ruled on Wednesday to sentence Ahmed Ezz, a senior member of Hosni Mubarak's now-dissolved National Democratic Party, to 37 years in prison and a fine of L.E. three billion on charges of squandering public funds when taking over the Dekheila Steel Company.

The court convicted Ezz for profiteering from public funds and causing Egypt a loss of around L.E. five billion, reported the Middle East News Agency.
