Reports gathered by The New Dawn last evening revealed that Finance Minister Amara Konneh, who fell off recently in Monrovia as a result of severe headache, is in the United States for further medical consultation, contrary to speculations here about his death.
Speaking to this paper via mobile phone from America, Minister Konneh's special Assistant Sekou Sanoe said that the Finance Minister was in Pennsylvania, the US where he had consulted a primary doctor and left to take a rest with his family.
"I took his phones from him because he really needs rest," Sanoe said. Rumor spread in Monrovia last evening like a wide fire about the death of Minister Konneh, amidst his illness. But inside sources at the Ministry of Finance say it is untrue.
Last week, Minister Konneh went to play old-timers' football in Du Port Road, few days after he was discharged from the J. F. K Medical Hospital on Thursday of last week.
The strong headache reemerged and Mr. Konneh was immediately taken to the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital where doctors recommended that he should go for further consultation in Ghana. While in Ghana, his wife asked him to go to the States and have some rest.
