Liberia: Ways and Means Committee Supports 'Open Budget' Initiative

The Chairman of the House and Co-Chairman of the Senate Ways, Means and Finance Committees have lauded the Ministry of Finance for the 'Open Budget' bill board erected by the Ministry of Finance.

Speaking to Legiscope Newspaper, Hon. Emmanuel Nuquay and Sen. Edward Dagoseh, said the National Budget is not a secret document and the electronic bill board will help the common people to follow its implementation.

The Margibi and Grand Cape Mount Counties Lawmakers further disclosed that the Legislature will help fight corruption by ensuring spending entities account for public money.

Hon. Nuquay and Dogoseh backed the ministry and its partners in making the public conscious of the execution of the budget.

Speaking also at the bill board exhibition, Finance Minister Amara Konneh said the bill board is a symbol for the people to follow their money collected.

The program was attended by President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, American Ambassador to Liberia and other partners of the International Community.
