Mwanza — TANZANIA Tourist Board (TTB) Mwanza Office has called on residents of the Lake Zone to invest in Lake Victoria and other various resources available in the area that have not been fully utilized.

TTB Mwanza Regional Officer, Ms Gloria Munhambo told the 'Daily News' that people in the area should visit domestic attractions in order to identify opportunities which have not been utilized. "I take this opportunity to advise locals to invest in tourism with intent to promoting it in Mwanza and other regions in the Lake Zone," said Ms Munhambo.

She said that Lake Victoria presents a huge opportunity for people in the Lake Zone to develop the area as a tourist attraction, but unfortunately very few have utilized it to invest in tourism.

Ms Munhambo noted that there are many opportunities to invest like fishing trips where tourists can enjoy fishing with local people, but also one can invest in hiking on the rocks where this attraction can bring special interest groups. She also suggested that people in Mwanza can invest in snake parks as locals have traditions of dancing with snakes.

Lake Victoria as water body is an attraction; the huge part of the Lake Victoria particularly in Mwanza is covered by rocks which are viewed as tourist attraction.
