Kenya: Kajembe Junior Out, Badi Wins

It was a double blow for the Kajembe family in Mombasa as outgoing Changamwe MP Ramadhan Kajembe and his son, Seif, lost. Badi Twalib, who defected to Wiper after he was allegedly rigged out of ODM, floored his brother-in-law Seif to become the first ever Jomvu MP.

Jomvu is one of the two constituencies created in Mombasa alongside Nyali. Badi got 11,435 against ODM's Seif's 7,152. Kajembe was by yesterday trailing Hassan Omar and Najib Balala in the senatorial race in most of the polling stations.

The official results had not been announced by the time of going to press. In Mvita, ODM's Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir won the parliamentary race with 34,491 against his closest challenger Sheikh Mohamed Dor of UPK who scored 10,525.
