On Monday the 4th of March 2013 the Ghanaian Minister of Defence, Mr. Mark Woyongo, and the German Ambassador in Ghana, Dr. Renate Schimkoreit, signed a new edition of the "Equipment Aid Support to Foreign Armed Forces Programme" between Germany and Ghana at the Ministry of Defence in Accra.
Germany has already supported the Ghanaian Military since 2002. As part of the new edition of the programme Ghana will receive assistance in the form of military materials und trainings from Germany for about 17 million Euros.
The Ghanaian Minister of Defence commended the German military assistance during the last ten years as sustainable and very positive for Ghana's military development and expressed his confidence for the upcoming cooperation between both countries.
Ambassador Dr. Schimkoreit on her behalf lauded the Ghanaian defence policy during the last decade and honoured Ghana's engagement as a regional peacekeeper in Western Africa.
