Kenya: Kachapin Is West Pokot Governor

Simon Kachapin is the first governor of Pokot county. Kachapin of Kanu emerged the winner with 60,859 votes followed by Geoffrey Lipale (ODM) 27,057, Micah Powon (URP) 18,105 and Hezron Ripko (TNA) 1,760 votes.

Kachapin thanked voters for voting peacefully and maintaining peace even though results took long time before they were announced. He has promised to ensure the county is food secure by starting irrigation schemes along main rivers to increase food production.
