The IEBC in Tanariver County was yesterday forced to announce election results before completing the tallying and verification process following protests over delays by supporters.

Hundreds of supporters of candidates had run out of patience after camping outside the Tanacounty Council hall tallying centre in Hola for the whole day without getting the results.

Unable to bear it anymore Ambassador Hussein Dhahdo the newly elected Governor of Tanariver County stormed the temporary office of the county returning officer Abdulatif Hassan demanding an explanation.

Other candidates who were later declared winners were the, Senator Ali Bule and Women representative Halima Ware. Deputy governor Jire Siyat Mohamed was also present to witness the victory.

"We have been here for the whole day our supporters are eager to know the results, why is the process delaying and other areas have already known their leaders," he said.

The Returning officer said the delay was caused by the election procedures which had to be followed adding that there were papers which needed to be signed before the candidates could be declared winners.

Hassan however agreed to only read the results for the public to know before the process was complete to officially declare the winners and issue them with certificates.

Ambassador Dhahdo and Galole MP elect Hassan Dukicha asked the supporters to calm down and listen to the results at 9 pm.
