Nigeria: Judiciary Workers Begin Strike Today

Members of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) will commence a strike action today following federal government's refusal to release circular for the implementation of Consolidated Judicial Salary Structure (CONJUSS).

JUSUN had earlier issued a 21-day ultimatum which had since elapsed without any feedback from the federal government.

President of JUSUN Comrade Marwan Mustapha Adamu said that government is paying lips service over industrial harmony in the judicial sector.

"Our demand for a document from National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission for the implementation of CONJUSS has been foot-dragging since 2009. We don't want federal government to see us as a weak union, we believe in dialogue but if government cannot implement a collective agreement, then we are sorry we can't guarantee industrial peace in Judiciary," he said.
