Egypt: Presidential Aide Denies Delegation Walking Out While Delivering Statement At UN

Presidential Aide Bakinam el-Sharqawy denied reports that the Egyptian delegation walked out while she was delivering a statement at UN meetings on the status of women that were held in New York last week.

El-Sharqawy said that, the Presidency and the National Council of Women (NCW) have agreed, before leaving to the US, on the role of each member of the delegation during the visit. Accordingly, Sharqawy added, she delivered Egypt's official statement at the inaugural session of the Status of Women Commission meetings in her capacity as the head of the delegation.

Meanwhile, the NCW denied on Sunday 10/3/2013 press reports that the Egyptian delegation did not attend the first session of the 57th round of the Status of Women Commission in New York. NCW said reports on this score are groundless and untrue.
