In a fantastic display of teamwork, Team Bonitas clinched the individual and team awards at the Cape Argus Pick 'n Pay Cycle Tour 2013. Superbly lead by all-rounder Hanco Kachelhoffer, his young 10-man team was well-prepared and fought of several breakaways from other leading teams and contenders.
Individual winner Herman Fouche was over the moon, "everyone make a contribution, I am very pleased after finishing third and then second respectively in the last two years, and our team show grit and tenacity. I am grateful to management and coaching staff because in the straight I just had about enough muscles left for the sprint, thanks to them for my extra strength, a great feeling," he said.
Under Kachelhoffer, Team Bonitas is on a dream run in 2013, having now finished on top of the podium in six of their last seven outings.
For emerging cyclist Luthando Kaka and Clint Hendricks, from Khayelitsha and Paarl, it's a dream come through to be associated with such a professional team.
Dr Bobby Ramasia, Principal Officer, Bonitas Medical Fund says, "In essence cycling is all about healthy living and enjoying the great outdoors and we hope that our sponsorship of the Team will inspire South Africans, and especially young people, to take responsibility for their health and lifestyle choices."
Team Bonitas is committed to nurturing young talent and developing cyclists through exposure in domestic and world circuits. The Team will continue to build on previous successes, both from within the team and with newly acquired cycling talent. Reporter Patrick Rudolph. Photographer Naym Hendricks.
