President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the removal of Dr. Harold Demuren as the Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) with effect from March 12, 2013.
LEADERSHIP had exclusively reported on Tuesday, March 5, 2012 that Demuren and other DGs had been directed to proceed on compulsory leave, preparatory to their removal.
Demuren's removal was conveyed in a statement signed by the Special Assistant (Media) to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr Sam Nwaobasi.
The statement reads in part, "This is consequent to a careful consideration of Demuren's unsatisfactory response to the numerous concerns of stakeholders in the Aviation Sector. Mr. President wishes him well in his future endeavours".
Demuren has been in the centre of the storm, following the crash of the Dana Air's MD 83 aircraft in Iju-Ishaga, Lagos on June 3, 2013.
The National Assembly had urged the Federal Government to remove him from office.
