Africa: Green Africa - America Tour Meets the Press

The Green Africa-America, EU, ACP Toursproject for 2013 to 2020on Thursday, 7th March, 2013 held a press conference at the NationalCenter for Arts and Culture (N.C.A.C.) office in Fajara. Addressing journalists, Professor Darryl.R.O. Prevost, the Executive Director-Global Principal of Cheikh Anta Diop Institute and Academies (CADIA) in America and Coordinator of Green Africa-America Tours, said they are meeting the press in order to brief them on the negotiations and discussions on the Green Africa-America Tour. He said Green Africa-America Tours is a company based in the US.

The Green Africa-America Tour, he said, was formed in 2006 in America, and its aims and objectives are to frame giant development projects globally in education, exhibition, festivals, conferences, tourism and culture, music promotions, shows, international gifts and the initiative of bringing African-American Diaspora to research, educate and know about their culture and heritage of their descendant fathers. Professor Prevost said they have partnership with AGOA, EU, and ACP with over 3,500,000 stakeholders in Africa and America. He said this is the 20th anniversary that would be a round up Tour of the Diaspora throughout Africa, Europe, South and Central America, Cuba, Brazil and Jamaica etc.

The Coordinator of Green Africa-America Tours disclosed that the participating delegates would most likely hail from the following countries the Gambia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Uganda and Zimbabwe etc. He noted that the theme is 'Africa's 3rd millennium and beyond" and the sub-theme is 'Profitable business and development opportunities". On the activities, he said, so far the Lagos fashion week programmes will commence on the 28 March in Nigeria and that the Green festivals will take place in April 2013 in New YorkCity, Chicago and other venues in San Francisco and Los Angeles. "The Essence festival will also be held on 3rd and 5th of July 2013, and the Magic fashion show to be held on 3rd week of August 2013 in Las Vegas and Nevada," he disclosed.

Professor Prevost said the Congressional Black Caucus Legislative Summit and Exposition will be held in September 2013 and the Cooperate Council on Africa (C.C.O) Summit and Exposition will also be held October 2013. According the Coordinator of Green Africa-America Tours, the Green Africa-America Tour project management team in giving due honour to the legendary personalities in America will be inviting persons such as Quincy Jones, a song writer and the promoter of the late legendary pop star Michael Jackson, Deny Glover, a film actor, promoters, entertainment companies and the U.S officials among others.

So far, he said, the Green Africa-America tour is proudly extending its honour and the sponsorship packages from the White House, US Senate, US Congress, US treasury, US Printing Office, World Bank Group -IFC, MIGA, etc. Professor Prevost concluded that the Green Africa-America Tour project requests for joint ventures, partnerships, moral, and financial support over the 2013-2020 Green Africa-America Tour project. Also present at the briefing were the partners, Gambia Music Union (MUSICGAM), which was represented by its President, Mr. Oliver Mboge and Secretary and Marketing Manager, Madam Fatoumata Barry.
