Kenya: Kiplagat Confident Kenya Will Retain Crowns At World Cross

Athletics Kenya (AK) president Isaiah Kiplagat has exuded confidence that the national cross country team will retain their titles at the World Cross Country Championships in Bydgoszsz, Poland on March 24.

Kiplagat said the team has had adequate preparations in the build-up to the event at their residential base at the Kigari Teachers Training College in Embu.

The AK boss said they are not worried of bitter rivals Ethiopia who have also named a strong team to the championships. "We are not worried of them. Every country has its team and we are certain that ours is the best," said Kiplagat. Ethiopia is presenting one of their strongest team in the World Cross-Country Championships. Led by Tariku Bekele, Kenenisa Bekele's younger brother, Ethiopia also has world bronze medallist Imane Merga multiple Olympic champion Tirunesh Dibaba, her sister and world indoor champion Genzebe Dibaba as well as bronze medallist from the 2010 World Cross Meselech Melkamu.
