A 12-year-old boy died on Monday after a vehicle he was traveling in was involved in an accident on the Sotik-Kisii highway. The schoolboy died on the spot after the matatu he was in collided head on with a saloon car which was heading to Kisii.

Eight other passengers in the matatu sustained minor injuries and were taken to Kapkatet District Hospital. Sotik OCPD Henry Ki- ambi said four people in the saloon car escaped with minor injuries.

He said the car was being trailed by traffic officers led by Bureti traffic base commander Agrey Ukiru. "It was trailed from Sotik after avoiding traffic officers when the accident occurred," said Kiambi.
