Egypt, South Sudan Affirm Readiness to Boost Joint Cooperation

In a press statement for Prime Minister Dr. Hisham Qandil and South Sudan's Vice President Riek Machar, Egypt and South Sudan affrimed their readiness to promote joint cooperation in all fields in a way that benefits the economies of the two states.

Qandil underlined Egypt's keenness to develp South Sudan as a nascent country, adding that Egypt will help South Sudan attract Arab and international investments via a tripartite partnership, including South Sudan, Egypt and other funding bodies.

Qandil said that Egypt is ready to cooperate with all Nile basin countries, affirming that Egypt and Sudan will not sign any agreement that harms the Egyptian-Sudanese interests.

Qandil voiced hope that South Sudan will play role in bringing the Nile basin states back to the negotiating table.

For his part, Machar extended thanks to the Egyptian delegation and expressed his country's desire to increase cooperation between Egypt and South Sudan in the next period.
