Zimbabweans are trickling in to cast their votes despite low voter turn-out.The number of people that turned out to cast their votes for the referendum in Insiza North constituency was relatively low in the morning when most of the polling stations opened as most of the rural folk were busy in their fields.
Zimbabwe Republic Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner, Charity Charamba said the situation was calm nationwide with no reports of violence. "People are voting peacefully and we have not yet received any violence reports nationwide," she said.
At Bertha Mine about 37 km out of Kwekwe there was no activity by 7 am. Only polling officers were ready to cast their vote while waiting people to come.
There is a high voter turnout across polling stations at Beitbridge as voters arrived at the polling stations as early as 6 am with Police presenceat all polling stations to maintain peace. A few people were turned away for producing invalid identification documents, while some were turned away for being underage.The elderly mostly turned out in large numbers in rural areas while middle aged citizens dominated the urban stations.
