Egypt: IMF Mission in Cairo to Resume Loan Negotiations

A mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission under Massoud Ahmed, Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department, is due in Cairo today 17/3/2013 to resume talks with Egyptian officials on a planned $4.8-billion loan from the IMF to Egypt. The Mission holds meetings with the ministers of the economic group, including Minister of Finance Dr. Morsi Hegazi and Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Ashraf el-Arabi. The mission concludes its job by a meeting with the Egyptian premier.

The Minister of Planning said the mission will discuss the program of economic and social reform, which has been modified to ease burdens on the low-income brackets and guarantee the return of economic stability.
