Tanzania: Airtel Donates Sh12 Million Books to Lindi, Mtwara Schools

AIRTEL Tanzania through Shule yetu (Our School) programme has donated textbooks and teaching aids to six secondary schools in Lindi and Mtwara regions as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) milieu.

The beneficiary schools are Namangale, Sino, Lukuledi, Namjota, Liondo and Kiangala. Speaking during the presentation ceremony held at Sino Secondary School, Mtwara Regional Education Officer (REO), Mr Rajab Said, said: "We understand challenges that the education sector in the country face.

"These include shortage of textbooks in our schools, today we are grateful to have our secondary schools benefits from the aid provided by Airtel.

"Another challenge is shortage science teachers in most schools, we believe through teaching and learning aid our teachers will have access to science books and use them effectively for their and students academic upgrade."

Airtel Southern Zone Sales Manager, Mr Brighton Majuala, said the current book ratio does not match with he pace of educational requirements.
