Kenya: Power Surge Ruins Property

PROPERTY worth more than Sh1 million was on Thursday destroyed at Siaya Institute of Technology following an electric surge.

Several computers and printing machines including a 36-inch coloured TV wereburnt down during the midday incident.Students and lecturers who were on sessons scampered for safety after noticing smoke billowing from the gadgets.

"We were reading in the laboratory before noticing smoke emanating from all the computers," said student Lilian Oloo.Principal Charles Akach said the fire has affected learning and destroyed sensitive documents.
