Kenya: Oduol Challenges ODM Rasanga?s Win in Siaya Elections

One of the losers in the Siaya governor race has filed a petition at the Kisumu High Court challenging the March 4 poll results.William Oduol wants the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission and Safaricom compelled to release data used in the tallying and relaying of the results.

Oduol lost to governor-elect Amoth Rasanga of ODM in the polls.He garnered 133,903 against Rasanga's 142, 901 votes.Oduol vied on the NAPK ticket after ha and rival Oburu Oginga were disqualified during the ODM nominations.

He, however, says he won the elections.Oduol said the elections were marred with irregularities and malpractices.Through his lawyer Dismas Wakla, Oduol wanted the two organisations compelled to give him the results by noon yesterday.

Justice Aggrey Muchelue set the hearing for Monday citing time constraints. Oduol wants the results nullified and he be declared the winner.
