Namibia: Formula Milk for Vulnerable Mothers

Windhoek — Standard Bank Namibia says it has for the past three years spent over N$750 000 on buying formula milk for the babies of Mount Sinai Centre in Soweto, Katutura.

The objective of the initiative is to save the lives of HIV-positive mothers' babies from contracting the HIV virus through feeding them exclusively on formula milk, as opposed to breastfeeding. This initiative also forms part of the Ministry of Health's Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT) programme.
