Kenya: No Embu Speaker Applicant

18 March 2013

Nobody has applied for the post of Speaker of the Embu County Assembly. Interim clerk Lorna Kariuki said none of the more than 30 lawyers practising in the county had applied for the job by yesterday.

Speaking to the Star yesterday, Kariuki said there is time for those interested to apply before the 20 county assembly members elect a Speaker. However, Embu Bar Association chairperson Morris Njagih has expressed interest and said he will apply for the position.
