Tunisia: EU Funds New Tunisia Projects

European Union Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule on Friday (March 15th) signed two grants aimed at supporting reform in Tunisia, TAP reported.

More than a half-million euros will fund a project to prevent gender-based violence in El-Kef, Jendouba and Béja. Another 1.8 million euros will assist the performance of the justice sector.

According to the European Commission, the UNICIF project is designed to protect juvenile delinquents from trial and detention "until their reintegration into the society".

"The EU welcomes the success in Tunisia since the revolution, but notes during the last few months a slowdown in the democratic transition," Fule said in Tunis at the end of his visit.
