Nigeria: Court Urges Imo Chief Judge to Stop Action On Impeachment

The Imo State High Court 5 sitting in Owerri Monday urged the state Chief Judge, Justice Benjamin Njemanze, to restrain from further action on the impeachment against the Deputy Governor, Mr. Jude Agbaso, as the case could be subjudice since the matter was already before the court.

The presiding judge, Justice Florence Duruoha-Igwe, in her ruling on the application for ex-parte motion, said: "The chief judge as a senior law officer knows the implication of going ahead with a matter that is subjudice," even though the judge did not make a categorical ruling whether the impeachment move could continue or not.
