Kenya: Women Urged to Take 'Male Roles'

WOMEN have been urged to embrace maritime careers and capitalise on the diverse job opportunities offered in the sector. The Association for Women in the Maritime Sector in Eastern and Southern Africa yesterday said the maritime industry has a lot to offer.

Womesa Kenya chapter said girls in the country should be encouraged to pursue careers in the sector which has been dominated by men.

Speaking during a joint training for Womesa and the Undugu mentorship initiative in Mombasa over the weekend, the association founding chairperson Nancy Karigithu said the maritime sector offers equal opportunities for both male and female.
