It was familiar because every morning at about 8:30am, two-year-old Shatra Nakitende would toddle off to the corner office looking for Dr Sarah Namulondo, her adult best friend. But this particular morning, her innocent antics were followed by sobs from the office canteen. Her mother Sarah Nungiwa was inconsolable; mourning the death of the woman who had selflessly loved her daughter like she were her own.
"Mama, mama," Shatra said pointing at her mother while struggling with her baby talk to say her mother was crying. She was oblivious of the fact that her Observer auntie had died.
