Kenya: Lawyer Seek to Block Embu Speaker's Election

An Embu lawyer yesterday went to court to seek orders to compel  the Embu county assembly interim clerk to nominate him for the county  assembly speaker's office after he was declared time-barred.

Dennis Mungai Kivuti at the same time was seeking orders stopping  election of the county assembly speaker scheduled for today, to allow the case he had filed be heard and  determined.  Kivuti said he was interested in vying for the office and tried to look for the office  of the Interim clerk Margaret Lorna Kariuki but he could not trace it  immediately.
