Kenya: Teacher 'asks for 3,000 KCPE Fee'

THE fate of a primary school head teacher in Gem district hangs in the balance after he allegedly sent home 20 pupils for non-payment of inflated Sh3,000 KCPE registration fee.

Ojola primary school head teacher Maurice Arara, allegedly connived with a tact-tutor to overcharge the pupils instead of the normal Sh800.

According to the Siaya county director of education, Nereah Olik, the head teacher will face disciplinary action once investigations are completed.

Meantime, efforts to reach Arara bore no fruit by the time of going to press.
