Somalia: Hudur Recaptured From Al-Shabaab

The Speaker of the Somali National Assembly, Professor Mohamed Osman Jawari, said yesterday (March 24) that Somali Government troops had recaptured the Bakool regional capital of Hudur.

After Government forces and Ethiopian troops withdrew from the town a week ago, Al Shabaab had briefly taken control. Professor Jawari who was speaking at Baidoa airport, confirmed that the town was now back in the hands of the government. Meanwhile, Government forces together with Ethiopian troops have been moving out of Garbaharey, in neighboring Gedo region to attack Al-Shabaab positions, taking over strategic positions around the town.
