Nigeria: Goni Sworn-in As New Head of Service

President Goodluck Jonathan has urged the new Head of the Civil Service to enhance discipline and curtail corruption in the system, in order to realize the rapid socio-economic development of the country under the guidance of the current administration transformation agenda.

The president stated this Monday at the swearing-in ceremony of the new Head of Service of the Federation, Alhaji Bukar Aji Goni at the State House, Abuja, calling for the need for priority to be given to sectors that would help government bring relief and benefits in health care, agriculture, education, and infrastructure to the people.

The president while expressing appreciation to Alhaji Bello Sali the former Head of Civil Service for his selfless service to the nation, he charged Goni to continue from where his predecessor stopped, step up compliance with the performance management system in the civil service and upgrade the manpower capability of the service with a view to making it meet global standards.
